How much money will I need in retirement?
Often during a pre-retirement appointment, a person may have preconceived notions about how much money they will need in retirement. Often we hear folks say “When I retire I won’t need as much money. Life will be simpler, less expensive. I will not spend money on things like lunches and gas.” While there may be some truth to this common notion, in our 28 years of experience, this is rarely the case. Sure, most people will save a few bucks here and there on gas and lunches but typically, when folks first retire, they may have a to do list 35 or 40 years long. Those things cost money, and they typically aren't cheap. As a new retiree you may wish to travel, you may have grand-kids that you want to spoil and so on. We have found that many people need more money than what they were living on while working, at least in the first few years of retirement. When you book an appointment with the Duncan Financial team we will sit down with you, carefully listen to your concerns and work toward a real number that you will need to retire comfortably. Our goal is to give you a frank, realistic look at what will enable you to retire without sacrificing your current lifestyle.
